Incubator: Katie Ryan of FlatironCity – Spaces for NextGen Innovation

August 7, 2015

Joined in theINCUBATOR today by Katie Ryan, the General Manager of FlatironCity. From their website: The new office model will place emphasis on flexibility and social space. Tenants and their teams can choose to work in spaces that are either private or open depending on the assignment…work at a desk or meet at the lounge.

Notes and discussion guide:

1. A continuing dialog around the revitalization of downtown Atlanta! We discuss the energy, the vibe, and all the amazing things happening there. Plus, what kind of partnership with the City of Atlanta…

2. We discuss Katie’s quite staggering diverse background, which ultimately lead to FlatironCity. And that diverse collection of experiences will serve her well…

3. The relationship between FlatironCity and Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and others…

4. E-Floors, what’s that about? It’s all about entrepreneurs…

5. The Flatiron Building is a story in itself, one of most historic buildings in downtown Atlanta. In fact, older than the Flatiron in NYC. Flatiron Atlanta is older than the NYC building, just so you know…

6. Although still under construction, there is quite a portfolio of upcoming tenants (Hint: Microsoft, for starters…). Plus, we discuss what other types of additional tenants they are looking for…

7. Will FlatironCity be a melting pot of companies? What sort of ecosystem is FlatironCity trying to be? What type of community are you trying to create (or let evolve)?

8. “Innovation with impact…”

9. We discuss some of the exciting upcoming events to be showcased at FlatironCity. Including FuckUpNight, a TED-ish event that talks about failure and mistakes, and what we learn from those…
